About

Portfolio: This is a website I've made to collect my creative writings. I have a portfolio but also other personal projects I'm working on. I incrementally share my most favourite parts of the things I create here.

About cur)ations:

We are in contact with creativity always, after a long day of work you watch TV or you read or you scroll through social media where people have come together to produce some sort of entertainment. We listen to music, we visit museums we admire the curves of the building opposite our house. It is in these moments that art reveals itself to us. There is no denying that creativity does something to us and for us. The funny thing is that we do not really know a lot about why it exists other than that it is something seemingly ingrained into out nature.

Cure)ations were formed as small essays about paintings that coincided with particular emotions. She would observe how it felt to know some context of the painting and to also sit and observe what thoughts and feelings it brought up. By publishing many of these 'cure)ations' I hope that others not only read these because they are interested in the art, but so they can see that there is not only one way to consume it. Art has been kept from the average person for too long and especially in a society that is growing more lonely - the therapeutic power of engaging in aesthetic experiences can not be overlooked. In Art, we cannot stop anymore at the question of "what is it?" we need to start delving into "what does it do to me?"

Ophelou (pen name) is the founder of MHE. She is deeply interested in the multifaceted complexities that live within us and how we make sure that they are expressed. While studying her Masters in Contemporary Art History, the idea of Emotional Curation began as a love child between her interest in human psychology, wellness and the fine Arts.
